Author Visits

Dave School Visit 1

I am available for various presentations, workshops, zoom visits, panels, and events at your school, bookstore, library, or conference. I deliver a lively, visual discussion on comics, and how they’ve served as inspiration throughout my life, fostering a love for reading and a passion to make my own books.

From brainstorming ideas, writing and revising, sharing art supplies & techniques, plus live drawing demonstrations, I invite people of all ages into the world of cartooning. Showing how I went from self-publishing black and white handmade minicomics to full-color graphic novels sold in bookstores, I hope to demystify the process and inspire everyone to create their own visual stories!

Author visits coordinator Kate Kubert Puls is currently managing enquiries and proposals on my behalf. Please feel free to contact Kate at kubertpuls@gmail.com with any questions about my presentations, including information about program lengths, formats, and prices. I am happy to speak to any size group, ages 7 and up.

“Dave Roman visited our 120 third graders at BNS. He was fantastic. Fantastic. He involved the students in his presentation and encouraged participation by all. Both students and teachers had a great time and left with smiles on their faces. What a great experience it was- all the students were engaged, enthusiastic and eager to get a copy of Dave’s books from the library’s collection. Dave answered questions and, through telling his own story, encouraged students to write and draw. We are very appreciative.”
—Susan Westover, Brooklyn New School (PS 146)

“This was one of the best author visits I have ever had, quite truthfully. Dave collaborated with the children in art. He emphasized success comes through failure, picking yourself up and in finishing things. And his final message to the kids was to read, ask questions and find your passion. ”
—Tracey Wong, P.S. 36, Bronx, NY
