October 11th, Raina and I will be at the Sheboygan Children’s Book Festival for the first time!

PROGRAMS & SCHEDULE:

11-11.45am Comic Inspiration!
Room: Maas Teen Learning Center
Husband-and-wife cartoonists Dave Roman (Astronaut Academy) and Raina Telgemeier (Sisters) will deliver a humorous discussion about growing up reading comics and how it affected the rest of their lives. They will then create a totally improvised comic based on audience participation!

Join author Dave Roman (Astronaut Academy) for a collaborative comics workshop that’s all about developing unique characters and exploring the language of visual storytelling. From brainstorming ideas, to writing and revising, art supplies and techniques, Dave invites people of all ages into the world of cartooning. He will also share insight into working at Nickelodeon, his adventures in publishing, and hopefully inspire everyone to create their own comics and graphic novels!

About Dave

Dave Roman is the author of several graphic novels including Astronaut Academy: Zero Gravity, Teen Boat! and Agnes Quill: An Anthology of Mystery. He has contributed stories to Explorer: The Mystery Boxes, Nursery Rhyme Comics, and is the co-author of two New York Times bestselling graphic novels, X-Men: Misfits and The Last Airbender: Zuko’s Story. Roman is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts and worked as a comics editor for the groundbreaking Nickelodeon Magazine from 1998 to 2009. He lives in NYC with his wife, and fellow comic artist, Raina Telgemeier.
